You board a spectacular early morning flight to Lukla, which is also a thrilling airstrip considered to be in the world. The flight provides a panoramic view of the Himalayas, such as peaks like Numbur and Gaurishankar. Arriving in connection with great excitement, you receive your porter you commence your trek down a little way to the village of Phakding. The path tracks down the Dudh Koshi River, which is encompassed by green pine and rhododendron forests. You can come across small Sherpa settlements and suspension bridges. It is a relatively easy day, which will allow your body to adapt to the increased elevation progressively.

This is the day that you will enter the heart of the Everest region and one of the hardest (but most rewarding) days on the trek. You start the trek by crossing multiple suspension bridges over the raging Dudh Koshi River, among them the legendary Hillary Suspension Bridge, after Sir Edmund Hillary. You become aware of the thinning of the air as you gradually ascend into the Sagarmatha National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its biodiversity and breathtaking views.

The steep climb takes you to the Namche Bazaar, commonly referred to as the gateway way Everest. It is a colorful Sherpa town with numerous shops, cafes, and trekking agencies. It is a cultural center where you can see the local ways and buy authentic handcrafts. A clear day will show you the majestic Mount Everest (8,848m) and Lhotse (8,516m), which pay the efforts you make with an unforgettable landscape of mountains.

To prevent altitude sickness, acclimatization is important. This is a day of easy walks around Namche. The trip to the Everest View Hotel (3,880m), the highest altitude hotel in the world, is one of the common excursions, providing breathtaking scenery of Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku. This spot is perfect for photos of the sunset and sunrise.

You may also check out the Sherpa Culture Museum to discover the lifestyles, history, and mountaineering history of the Sherpas. Just above is Khumjung village, which is like a glimpse of traditional Himalayan village life and contains a monastery, which has a possible yeti scalp, a fascinating cultural oddity. The given day is an ideal combination of light hiking, cultural experience, and recovery.

One of the best parts of the trek comes today. When you leave Namche, you start walking along ridge lines with spectacular panoramas of the snow-capped Himalayas. The trail passes through pine and rhododendron forests, and finally heads to our well-known Tengboche Monastery, which constitutes the biggest Tibetan Buddhist monastery of Khumbu.

Tengboche majestically towers above the valleys, framed by peaks such as Ama Dablam and Thamserku. The monastery is a religious center, and the monks conduct daily prayers and rituals, which are mostly coupled with chanting and the Tibetan horn sound. Tourists may also attend or silently witness such ceremonies. Tengboche is a memorable experience due to the peaceful aspect of nature and the panoramic view of the mountains.

Walking distance: ~9.5 km (5-6 hours) | Overnight: Tengboche (Teahouse)

You go down again through more lovely forests, through streams, and past mani stones and chortens, which are marks of holy locations. The path is followed back with more time to enjoy the natural beauty and maybe see other wildlife, unmistakably the musk deer or Himalayan birds. Back at Namche, you have time to relax and visit more shops and cafes as you reflect on the spiritual experience of Tengboche.

Walking distance: ~9.5 km (4-5 hours) | Overnight: Namche Bazaar (Teahouse)

It is a return day, and yet it is important as this signifies the end of your trekking adventure. The path leads down through varied terrain, through quiet villages of Sherpa people and forests. As you go further, you will encounter mani stones (carved praying stones) and chortens (small stupas) which express the Buddhist religious belief and the spiritual relationship between the Sherpa people and the mountains.

A long hike back to Lukla provides you with the time to look back at your journey with panoramic natural scenery. The arrival at Lukla is accompanied by some sort of festival, with trekkers joining guides and porters drinking and telling tales to each other following their shared experience.

You are flown back to Kathmandu by a scenic and short flight. Upon check-in at the hotel, the remaining afternoon can be spent relaxing, shopping, or visiting cultural sites such as Pashupatinath Temple and Boudhanath Stupa. Spend the day resting and look back on your Himalayan journey in the colorful capital of Nepal.

In the morning, we drive you to Tribhuvan International Airport to meet your onward flight. Departing Nepal, you have unforgettable images of the towering Everest, mysterious Sherpa, their culture, and Himalayan hospitality.
